Hair Transplant Recovery Process 1st Day

The first day is the day you visit the hair transplant clinic and get the procedure done. On this day, the transplanting region is marked, the area is shaved, and local anaesthesia is used to take grafts from the matching donor area and plant them in the transplanting region.

This hair transplant surgery you have had has made you tired a little. Bleeding occurred in the donor area and the transplantation area. On the first day of hair transplantation after the surgery, you do not stay at the hair transplantation centre, and you can go home. Since the effect of local anaesthesia continues, you will not feel much pain on the first day.

If possible, use an armchair to sleep in tonight rather than a bed. Especially if you have a heavy sleep and are constantly turning in bed, give up your sleep pleasure for a few days for the health of your transplanted hair. It is recommended not to smoke on the first day, But if you are going to smoke, try to smoke less. Avoid intoxicating drinks.

Recovery Process 2nd Day

The second day is the day after the surgery. The effect of local anaesthesia has passed now; therefore, you may feel minor pain all day long. However, the painkillers and antibiotics prescribed by the doctor will help you to manage this pain.

Especially for patients coming from other cities or countries, the first hair wash is done on the 2nd day; because patients want to go home as soon as possible instead of staying in their hotel rooms. Since you cannot do the first wash on your own, you will have to go to the hair transplant centre for the second time. Your initial hair wash is done here by either your transplant doctor or the relevant staff members.

The discomfort you feel when the bandage on your neck is taken off will also be experienced on the second day. You do not need to visit the transplant clinic and remove the neck bandage if the first wash is done the following day.

On the day of surgery, bleeding in the neck and transplant area caused the blood to coagulate and dry in these areas. Although the initial wash cleans these regions to a large extent, traces of blood will still be visible.

Recovery Process 3rd Day

If your hair is not washed on the second day, the first hair wash is done on the 3rd day after hair transplantation. If the first wash was done the previous day, you will feel better today. Your wounds will cause less pain. During this period, you should take good care of the transplanting area. You should not sleep in the transplanting area. In the first days, you are only allowed to lie on your back.

Be sure to wear a hat when you go out on the 3rd day, just like the first two days. Even if possible, do not walk around in the sun without a hat for the first 2 months; otherwise, both the transplant area and the nape area, which is the donor area, will become red and this redness will probably not fade for months.

Hair Transplant Recovery Process 1st Week

Some medications injected under the skin with local anaesthesia in hair transplant surgery may cause some swelling of the forehead and eye area. Those small swellings mentioned will completely fade in the 1st week. During the first week, the hair follicles have not fully adapted to the planted area. As a result, you must keep your awareness of the planting area.

In general, you can go to work within the first week, although the scars from the operation will still be visible. As a result, you must be ready to answer people’s questions regarding the issue.

You should pay attention to your sleep this week, according to experts. After the first week, continuing to smoke if you must do so won’t do any harm. However, to protect both your health and the health of your hair, the more you avoid this behaviour, the better.

There is no visible change in the hair transplant in the first week. You will only be able to see your head clear of blood. Hair transplant recovery is a long process that requires patience.

Hair Transplant Recovery Process 2nd Week

The most noticeable alteration in your hair will be visible during the second week. Recovery from hair transplantation involves a critical period.

Shock shedding occurs in the 2nd week after hair transplantation. Shock shedding is a sudden loss of transplanted hair. It is not something to be scared or alarmed about. On the other hand, if you suffer shock loss, you may assume that the procedure following hair transplantation is progressing correctly.

In the 2nd week after planting, shock shedding is at the initial stage. With shock shedding, hair loss can last up to a month. Therefore, if your hair has not fallen in the second week, do not worry. Wait, it will shed in the next week or two.

In the second week, your neck’s hair has partially grown, helping to cover the unattractive appearance there. The transplanted region is entirely free of bleeding crusts.

There is no longer a situation to fear because the transplanted hair has adapted to the transplant area. You can change to the sleeping positions you missed to get a better night of sleep.

Hair Transplant Recovery Process 1st Month

There is no significant change in your transplanted hair. However, after a month has passed, it is an important period because you have overcome all the problems after hair transplant surgery.

But the pimples that started to form this month following hair transplantation may keep appearing. You should not take any action if these pimples do not annoy you much. However, it is helpful to speak with your hair transplant doctor if they cause any discomfort, irritation, or persistent itching.

Recovery Process 2nd Month

The 2nd month after hair transplantation is the month in which the transplantation operation bears its fruits. Yes, in the 2nd month, so to speak, the incubating hair follicles start to revive and come out of the scalp. The hair that comes out at first may disappoint you; because these newly emerging strands of hair are very thin, curly and frail. Of course, you should not expect these hairs, which have not yet fully strengthened their roots, to grow very thick hair. Don’t worry, the roots will become stronger over time, so the strands they pull out will be thicker and healthier.

By the second month, you are already back to your normal life. The only thing left after the hair transplant surgery is your hair that has just started to grow. The problems we mentioned before have already been eliminated. After this month, the most important thing to pay attention to is to pay attention to your nutrition. You can also benefit from the finger massage you do in the plantation area in your free time.

Recovery Process 3rd Month

Hair regrowth after hair transplantation occurs in the 3rd month in some patients. For this reason, those whose hair does not grow in the second month should not experience any uneasiness. In the normal course, almost all of the hair transplants in the 3rd month will come out. However, as mentioned, these hairs are still very weak and formless. You may have to wait for a while for your hair to return to its normal state. In the 3rd month, you can shave the hair that grows in the planting area and give your hair the shape you want.

Recovery Process 4th Month

All patients’ hair has grown to some extent four months following the hair transplant operation. However, the desired density has yet to be reached. Even though the hair has grown, new hair that has been delayed in growing may continue to grow. Do not think that new hairs are growing independently of the transplanted hairs. These are the hairs that have been delayed.

However, this may not be the case for patients who have old hair in the transplanted area, that is, patients who transplant on the area with thin hair.  Your natural hair can grow apart from the transplanted hair in areas where hair cells do not die completely.

Recovery Process 5th Month

Your transplanted hair has grown a few centimetres. In general, we can say that the hair transplant is completed. However, the hair will continue to develop for another two months.

Your sparse hair will become denser for a certain period and the thickness of the hair will increase a little. If you have had a successful and natural transplant, people who don’t know you will not even realize that you had a hair transplant.

Recovery Process 6th Month

Those with an understanding of the healing process after hair transplantation focus on the 6th month; since hair transplant experts state that the hair will come out completely and practically reach its final shape in the 6th month. Although the hair begins to grow the second month after planting, it takes 6 months for these hairs to develop.

Under normal conditions, the hair transplant recovery period is completed in the sixth month. But for your hair, everything is not finished yet. They will continue to grow as bushy as possible and improve in shape.

Hair Transplant Recovery Process 12th Month

In fact, after 6 months, you will not experience visible changes; However, almost all hair transplant specialists say that the hair growth period is one year. After the 6th month, the hair does not grow anymore, but it continues to develop for up to a year. If you have reached the 12th month in the post-transplantation period, you should now settle for your existing hair and not expect any further developments; your hair has already taken its final shape.

When Can I Go to Work After a Hair Transplant?

It is one of the most frequently asked questions by those who decide to have a hair transplant. Especially civil servants, who have to go to work, are curious about the answer to this question. Let’s be clear: Normally if you ask the plantation centre, they will say you can go to work in a few days. It’s true, you can go, but you can go with the blood and blood marks on your head.

To go to work without drawing notice, you need at least two to three weeks. For this reason, we recommend people have hair transplantation during the yearly break period and teachers during the summer vacation.

What Should You Do If Your Hair Transplant Process Does Not Proceed As Expected?

First of all, we need to emphasize the following: The structure and characteristics of each person are different. Therefore, the process after hair transplantation does not happen at the same time for everyone. We have started the day, week or month and explained what developments have happened on the relevant dates; however, the dates we give are not valid for everyone.

For example, we used the term 2nd month for the hair to grow out. However, in some patients, the hair grows after one and a half months, while in others it may grow up to 3-4 months. Again, shock shedding occurs in the second or third week in the normal process, although in some people it can be delayed for up to one or two months.

You do not need to rush and call your doctor when you encounter such time differences. However, if you observe an abnormal course, do not forget to consult your transplant specialist. Hair transplant centres are not the only ones responsible for performing hair transplant surgery. Every doctor should also follow the post-planting process of her patient and provide unconditional support.

Specifically, Avicenna International Hospital, one of the top clinics for hair transplants in Turkey, invites you to regain not just your hair but also your confidence.
